New Providence Schools
The New Providence School District is a comprehensive community
public school district serving students in pre-Kindergarten through
twelfth grade in Union County, New Jersey. Students from the
unincorporated community of Murray Hill within the borough attend
the New Providence school facilities.
As of the 2012-13 school year, the district's four schools had an enrollment of 2,265 students and 171.3 classroom teachers, for a student–teacher ratio of 13.22:1.
Salt Brook Elementary School (K – 6; 612 students) 40 Maple Street
Allen W. Roberts Elementary School (PreK-6; 627 students) 80 Jones Drive
The middle school and high school share the same building and some of the same facilities (art rooms, auditorium, east wing, west wing, gyms, music rooms, TV production room, cafeteria). Recently a new gym was added to the building.
New Providence Middle School (7 – 8; 337 students) 35 Pioneer Drive
New Providence High School (9-12; 619 students) 35 Pioneer Drive
The school was the 1st-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 328 schools statewide in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2012 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools", after being ranked 5th in 2010 out of 322 schools listed.
Course offerings include over 140 courses, 19 Advanced Placement Courses, 17 Honors Level Courses, and Shared-time vocational education training.
“The Pioneers” now compete in the Union County Interscholastic Athletic Conference, following a reorganization of sports leagues in Northern New Jersey. NPHS's teams have won multiple state championships in sports such as track & field, baseball, basketball, football, soccer, tennis, golf, swimming, and wrestling.
